Did You Know?
The Federal Probation Act, passed in 1925, provided for the establishment of a probation system in the U.S. courts, except in the District of Columbia, gave the court the power to suspend the imposition or execution of sentence and place the defendant on probation for such period and on such terms and conditions as it deemed best.
