Martin Swinehart, Great Lakes Region President

In October 1989, Marty Swinehart was hired as a United States Probation Officer for the Northern District of Indiana in Gary, Indiana after serving almost ten years as a juvenile probation officer in Porter County, Indiana. In 1991, the Gary and Hammond offices were consolidated in Hammond. He was promoted to Sentencing Guidelines Specialist in 1995, then moved to the South Bend Divisional Office when he was promoted to Supervising United States Probation Officer in July 2000. He chairs the Research Committee of FPPOA.

About the Region: | The Great Lakes Region is comprised of the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. The membership in the Great Lakes Region has maintained a steady increase. The region is comprised of the great metropolitan areas of Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit and Cleveland which makes up most of the membership base for the region. The regional line officer of the year award is named after our fallen collegue, Thomas E. Gahl. The Regional President is Marty Swinehart. |
