FPPOA is now over 50 years of age and is the sole representative association dedicated exclusively for staff working in Federal Probation and Pretrial Services.

As part of the associations commitment to the Federal Probation and Pretrial Services, we hope that this site is able to provide you with all the information that fits your professional needs.

If you are an active member in good standing, please enroll in FPPOA's listserv which is being hosted by the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of New York.  You can enroll from the navigation menu under Membership.  The list will help you to stay up to date on current issues and concerns regarding Federal Probation and Pretrial Services.

Notification of Annual Membership Dues

Membership fees for 2009 will be due beginning January 1, 2009. Membership dues for Active Officers are: $40 for One Year and $100 for Three Years, Free for Newly Appointed Officers; $15 for Associate Members and $250 for Contributing Members (public and private agencies, departments, institutions, universities, religious bodies, professional correctional associations and affiliate organizations.) Thank you for your continued support to the only professional organization dedicated solely to U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services.  FPPOA Application

House trying again to cure FERS flu
By Jason Miller Executive Editor FederalNewsRadio House members are trying again to cure the FERS flu. House lawmakers attached a provision to the Disabled Military Retiree Relief Act of 2009 to lets federal employees under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) receive credit for unused sick leave toward their retirement annuity. This benefit would match the one received by employees covered by the older Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS). The House passed the bill today unanimously. Lawmakers attached a similar provision to the Tobacco bill, but it was stripped out in conference with the Senate. So there still is no guarantee that the provision will make it into law. The provision also would do several other things: Correct the method for calculating annuities under CSRS to ensure employees are not unfairly penalized for working part-time at the end of their career. Give former employees who would like to return to federal service the option of repaying any annuity refund they received, with interest, in order to restore credit toward retirement upon return. Make several other technical changes to correct the retirement calculations for a small number of federal employees. Ensure retirement equity for federal workers in Hawaii, Alaska, and the U.S. Territories by providing these employees with locality pay. Federal employees in these areas have a disadvantage in retirement security due to a lack of locality pay. These workers may receive a non-foreign cost of living allowance. However, this pay adjustment does not count toward their retirement, as does locality pay. "These improvements will positively impact federal employees and retirees across the spectrum, from new hires to those nearing the end of their careers," says Colleen Kelley, president of the National Treasury Employees Unions. "This package will help ensure that federal workers are treated fairly and receive similar treatment regardless of their retirement system."
